Stoneyfold Park is an excellent place to indulge in leisure activities such as walking and bird watching within the park’s forty acres of woodland, but close by there are many other areas of interest, catering for a wide selection of hobbies. Within a short 20 minute drive from the Park, residents can enjoy sailing, fishing, cycling, climbing, clay pigeon shooting and playing golf.

There are five lovely golf courses in and the area; Macclesfield Golf Club, Prestbury Golf Club, Tytherington Golf Club and the five star courses at Mottram Hall and Shrigley Hall. For those wishing to travel further afield, there is a nine hole course and driving range at Adlington, approximately eight miles away.

Fishing on Bosley Reservoir
This is a large reservoir created to feed the Macclesfield Canal system, specifically the 12 Bosley locks. It is fed from the surrounding hills, including Bosley Cloud which rises to 1,125 feet.

Sailing at Redesmere Lake
This is a very friendly club that meets the needs of all types of sailors – racing, training courses, junior sailing and social events both on and off the water. Redesmere is RYA club of the year finalist.

Macclesfield Canal
This was among the last ones to be built with the route surveyed by Thomas Telford and construction engineered by William Crosley. It was opened in 1831 and commercially used until the 1960’s.

Is where Buzzards fly and Wallabies still roam is a wind-carved outcrop of gritstone rocks straddling the parishes of Leekfrith and Heathylee in the Peak District National Park.

This is situated on the scenic Macclesfield canal. Idyllic cruising through countryside free of locks you can travel northwards towards Marple Locks or south towards Bosley Locks.
